Our family can't thank Shannon enough. My Dad looks forward to his time with Shannon and is always so happy after her visit. This is her passion and it shows in her kindness, patience and sense of humour when she's with him. She is a gift!

The daily communication provided by the companions is very informative and from certain companions, very in depth. This is helpful and comforting when you are not able to see that person on a daily basis. We couldn't manage this stage of life without them. I was told by the Wellness people at the retirement home where my wife was recently placed in “Memory Care” that Off Our Rocker had good companions available to help with additional much-needed companionship daytime care in addition to the fine care given to my wife by the Home’s staff.

The Wellness people were quite correct, and I am glad that I acceded to their advice.

I had, with much help, cared for my wife, who had been medically declared to  have a degree of dementia, for almost six months at home, so I am aware of the necessity for patient understanding towards the cared person and I have found that each of the Off Our Rocker companions has been so good in that respect, and indeed my wife likes each of the three that rotate daily with her. We have three caregivers because the work is not easy, so rotation is necessary and also to ensure complete coverage, which cannot be guaranteed and indeed when this does occur (luckily not very often in the three months that my wife has been so assisted) Shannon was quick to advise both me and the Home in advance of this rare occurrence.

In all I am pleased to recommend Shannon and her people.

Shannon from Off Our Rockers has been a God send. Being a working mum, trying to juggle work, kids, and caring for an elderly parent with dementia wanting to stay in her own home, felt like being in a constant state of drowning! Shannon throws you a life raft to stop you drowning.  

She is reliable, and has a gift for dealing with the elderly. She truly enjoys them, for her this is a calling not just a job. She has changed our lives for the better and we are deeply grateful for her expertise and dedication.

Shannon and her staff worked with our family for 2 years. It was a very very difficult two years. Aging parents require much more support to ensure they have an excellent life. Shannon took our mom on outings (that were targeted towards her interests); art exhibits, Stations of the Cross, walks along the river, park settings so mom could enjoy watching pets and kids. Additionally, Shannon would take mom to appointments (weekly hair appts), Dentist appt. Occasionally, Shannon came to medical appointment to assist with things such as mobility. At first our needs were minimal and Shannon was there to make moms life full and fun. As our moms needs increased Shannon and her team were there. They would be company, sit with her in hospital, ensure she had assistance with eating (sometimes just company so mom would eat). We have many pictures of mom going out for ice cream! Shannon and her team would ensure the activities, crafts, and outings were interests of moms and appropriate for her current stage of dementia (crafts, garden pots, 3D puzzles, games such as Yahtzee). I cannot express how much Shannon and her team added quality to moms life and ours. After each shift I would receive an update. I would contact Shannon with changes I would see and we would discuss how best to ensure mom had great life experiences. Mom had dementia and it is a challenging disease. Shannon and her team added quality to moms life. We are a small family and could not be with her 24 hours a day. Care facilities only meet basic care needs. Shannon and her team add "the extra" to ensure families and clients have the best possible journey through this difficult time. I was so blessed to meet and have Shannon to walk along side with me during this time. Her kindness, humour, and knowledge were a welcomed blessing.
